Inbound Controller – Chemicals

About the role

The Inbound Controller reports to the Logistics Manager and is responsible for receiving, off‑loading and loading activities within the chemical manufacturing warehouse. The role ensures safe handling of raw materials, packaging and customer returns while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Receive monomers, bulk raw materials, packaging items and customer returns, ensuring correct labeling and storage.
• Operate forklifts safely, conduct pre‑use inspections and adhere to SHE priorities.
• Perform weekly cycle counts, investigate variances and capture stock movements in the SAGE system.
• Supervise picking, packing and loading of local, long‑haul and export orders, ensuring correct grades, batch numbers and container conditions.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, LSS, PSM and 5S principles, and monitor stacking heights to prevent damage.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with computer literacy.
• Post‑matric qualification (minimum 2 years).
• At least 5 years of experience in a chemical stores environment.

Required skills

• Forklift operation.
• Proficiency with the SAGE inventory system.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliance.
• Understanding of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Process Safety Management (PSM) policies.
• Application of 5S workplace organization.
• General computer literacy.
