In-house Legal Associate – Renewable Energy

About the role

We are seeking an experienced In‑house Legal Associate to join a leading international renewable‑energy organisation in Cape Town. The role will support the full lifecycle of large‑scale wind and solar projects, providing legal expertise from development through construction and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as project and construction contracts, partnership and shareholder agreements, and land and asset transactions.
• Support project bids, tender submissions and advise business teams on legal and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with project structuring, joint‑venture formation, acquisitions and manage external counsel.
• Contribute to dispute resolution, risk mitigation strategies and internal governance, compliance and legal reporting.

Required profile

• LLB or BCom Law qualification.
• 5–10 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in commercial contracts and project‑based environments.
• Background in infrastructure, energy or industrial sectors; renewable‑energy experience is a strong advantage.
• Commercially minded with strong negotiation abilities and the capacity to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑growth setting.
