Hotel Cleanliness Expert (Room Attendant)

About the role

The Hotel Cleanliness Expert ensures that guest rooms, villas, suites and public areas are maintained to the highest standards of appearance and hygiene. Working within the Protea Hotel Cape Town Waterfront Breakwater Lodge, you will create memorable experiences for guests through meticulous housekeeping and attentive service.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests with a friendly greeting, anticipate their needs and respond to service requests promptly.
• Perform thorough cleaning of guest rooms, including bathrooms, furnishings, appliances and amenities, following established procedures.
• Maintain public and employee areas by cleaning restrooms, floors, glass surfaces and ensuring supplies are stocked.
• Report maintenance issues, missing items or damages to the housekeeping manager or front‑desk team.
• Handle cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate safety standards.

Required profile

• Higher education diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six months of experience in a similar housekeeping role.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Safe handling and selection of cleaning chemicals and PPE.
• Operation of housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, extractors and shampoo machines.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) procedures.
