Head of Finance (Strategic & Operational CFO)

About the role

Pres Les Group is seeking a commercially astute and technically strong Head of Finance/CFO to partner closely with the CEO. This hybrid role blends strategic leadership with hands‑on finance, governance and executive partnership to drive growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Act as strategic finance partner to the CEO, supporting growth, profitability and long‑term planning.
• Partner with the executive team on group strategy, business planning and key commercial decisions.
• Provide commercial decision support across pricing, margins, channels, credit, stock, commissions and business‑model changes.
• Lead financial planning, investment evaluation, performance management and initiatives to improve profit, cash flow and working capital.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, performance reporting and preparation of consolidated Group annual financial statements.
• Own the annual audit process and act as primary liaison with KPMG.
• Prepare and submit the ITR14 corporate income tax return and manage SARS engagement.
• Oversee full tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax) and manage treasury, banking relationships, cash flow and working capital.
• Serve as Public Officer (SARS), Information Officer (POPIA) and PAIA Officer, and fulfil company secretarial and statutory compliance responsibilities.
• Lead and develop the finance team while maintaining strong internal controls.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification.
• 8–10 years progressive finance leadership experience, including group reporting exposure.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, especially consolidated reporting.
• Proven experience managing external audits.
• Hands‑on tax compliance experience and familiarity with SARS.
• Commercially minded with strong strategic thinking capability.
• Comfortable operating at executive level while remaining detail‑oriented.
• High integrity and a strong governance mindset.
