Head of Finance & Accounting – Remote (South Africa)

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Head of Finance & Accounting to own the financial operations of a multi‑studio, franchise‑driven business. This remote position will modernise our finance stack, drive profitability, and shape compensation strategy while partnering directly with the owners on strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Modernise reporting and automation by replacing spreadsheets with integrated tools (QuickBooks, Stripe, Clover, CRM, Airtable, payroll, banking).
• Lead month‑end close, reconciliations, P&L, balance sheet, AP/AR, payroll, cash flow, and franchise royalty processing.
• Build dashboards for studio profitability, labor %, lesson revenue, marketing ROI, and cash forecasting.
• Identify margin leaks, optimise pricing, audit vendors, and recover wasted spend.
• Design and test commission, bonus, and incentive structures that drive instructor performance and sales without eroding margin.
• Provide forecasting, hiring, expansion modelling, and scenario planning for major business decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience with full‑cycle finance operations (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, payroll).
• Strong QuickBooks expertise and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Track record of delivering fast, accurate month‑end closes.
• Experience building commission and incentive plans and implementing finance automation from scratch.
• Comfort working in a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial environment.

What we offer

• Base salary $3,000–$4,000 USD per month, dependent on experience.
