Head of Department – Outsourced Accounting

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Department – Outsourced Accounting to lead a team of accountants and deliver high‑quality, commercially relevant accounting and management reporting services to a diverse client base. The role is office‑based and reports directly to the partners of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, mentor and develop the outsourced accounting team.
• Review monthly accounting processing, ensuring accuracy and appropriate treatment.
• Analyse management accounts and ensure reports are useful for client decision‑making.
• Meet with clients to discuss performance, trends and areas needing attention.
• Ensure annual financial statements are delivered within six months of year‑end.
• Assist clients with financing packs and FICA‑related compliance.
• Travel locally and to other provinces to maintain strong client relationships.
• Leverage technology and automation to improve efficiency and turnaround times.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years post‑article experience (SAICA) in financial reporting.
• 8‑10 years experience across administrative tax.
• Proven ability to supervise, review and coach accounting staff.
• Strong communication and client‑facing skills.
• Willingness to travel locally and occasionally to other provinces.
