Group Procurement Manager – Strategic Projects

About the role

This position is based in Tygervalley, Cape Town and will lead strategic procurement projects for the Sanlam Group. The manager will drive category management, cost efficiencies, compliance and stakeholder experience across multiple business units.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate strategic procurement projects, ensuring deliverables meet timeline, budget, scope and quality.
• Develop procurement business cases, classification of spend and detailed spend analysis.
• Initiate and execute category plans, sourcing and contracting for commodities within the portfolio.
• Achieve cost savings against budget and drive strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Maintain supplier relationships, contracted database and ensure compliance processes are followed.
• Produce and validate reporting platforms, ensuring data quality and system integrity.
• Engage senior business partners to align procurement policy and processes.

Required profile

• BComm or equivalent degree; legal qualification (LLB) is advantageous.
• Member of MCIPS and/or PMI.
• Minimum 10 years procurement or supply‑chain experience in financial services.
• Experience leading procurement transformation projects, especially M&A.
• Proven track record in sourcing, contracting and supplier management across multiple spend categories.
• Benchmarking experience and international procurement project exposure.
