Geriatrician and Specialist Physician

About the role

Mediclinic Sandton is seeking a qualified Geriatrician and Specialist Physician to join its multidisciplinary team in Johannesburg. The position involves delivering high‑quality private practice care within a leading private hospital that provides a full range of acute, intensive and neonatal services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments and manage chronic and acute conditions in adult patients.
• Collaborate with the hospital’s multidisciplinary team, including intensive care, emergency and paediatric services.
• Participate in the 24‑hour emergency unit and contribute to high‑care and intensive‑care patient management when required.
• Support clinical governance, teaching and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialist qualification in Geriatrics or a related field.
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Proven experience working in a private hospital or similar high‑acuity environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
