Gaming Mathematician – Game Statistics & Modelling

About the role

We are seeking a Gaming Mathematician to join our studio in Modderfontein. You will design, develop and validate mathematical models that define the statistical characteristics of our games, ensuring the intended player experience is delivered through accurate modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop cutting‑edge mathematical models that define game statistics.
• Iterate designs to reflect the intended player experience accurately.
• Develop software tools to calculate, simulate and verify model accuracy.
• Create theoretical solutions and configurations for game implementation.
• Produce clear documentation for internal teams, external stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional studio teams to ensure mathematical accuracy.
• Resolve mathematical queries and monitor live game performance.
• Build automated solutions to improve modelling efficiency and accuracy.
• Mentor colleagues and share knowledge across the studio.
• Validate models using simulation techniques and statistical analysis.

Required skills

• Programming experience in at least one of C#, C++ or Python.
• Expertise in combinatorics, probability theory, statistics and mathematical modelling.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, simulation and data validation.
• Experience developing and maintaining simulation frameworks.
