Foreman – Water Section

About the role

The municipality is seeking a Foreman to lead the Water Section, overseeing daily water supply operations, maintenance and new installations. The role reports to the superintendent and requires strong technical and supervisory capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all water supply activities, including allocation of work orders.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of assets such as pipes, water machines, vehicles and related equipment.
• Manage public complaints, prioritising sectional activities accordingly.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and occupational health and safety standards.
• Perform ad‑hoc tasks as directed by management.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 with a National Diploma in Civil Engineering (NQF‑6) or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience in water services/maintenance.
• Demonstrated management, analytical and communication skills.

Required skills

• Trade‑tested Plumber/Millwright (Red Seal) certification.
• C1 Driver’s License with PDP.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Projects.
• Project Management and Financial Management capabilities.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and water‑sewer network construction.
• Ability to interpret and enforce relevant legislation and policies.

What we offer

• Salary range R 408 648 – R 451 380 per annum (Level 06 of a Grade 04 Local Authority).
• Total compensation package inclusive of all benefits: R 615 848.68 per annum.
