FinOps Engineer – Cloud Cost Optimisation

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced FinOps Engineer to join their enterprise cloud team. You will drive cloud cost optimisation, financial governance and usage efficiency across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and optimise cloud spending on Azure and AWS.
• Identify and implement cost‑saving measures such as rightsizing, Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
• Develop and maintain cost dashboards, financial reports and consumption forecasts.
• Establish budgets, variance analysis and cost allocation models using tagging strategies.
• Implement FinOps best practices and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed cost‑aware architecture.
• Design and automate cost tracking, reporting and optimisation using Python, PowerShell, Terraform or Bash.
• Partner with finance, procurement and engineering stakeholders for financial planning and governance.

Required profile

• 5‑6+ years of experience in FinOps, cloud engineering or cloud financial management.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder communication skills.
• Commercial awareness with a cost‑optimisation mindset.
• Ability to influence technical and business teams and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) platforms.
• Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets and Cost & Usage Reports.
• Infrastructure as Code – Terraform, ARM templates or CloudFormation.
• Scripting – Python, PowerShell, Bash.
