Financial Services Lawyer – Derivatives (Senior Associate)

About the role

PwC SATIC is expanding its derivatives legal capability in South Africa and is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Managed Legal Services team. The role involves delivering high‑quality legal support on complex derivatives and related trading matters for UK and multinational clients.

Key responsibilities

• Independently review, draft, amend and negotiate a wide range of financial services documents, including ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, Master Repurchase Agreements and Securities Lending Agreements.
• Prepare mark‑ups, issue logs, negotiation positions and practical advice notes while managing multiple live matters and competing deadlines.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients, counterparties and other transaction participants across the transaction lifecycle.
• Contribute to template libraries, clause repositories, training materials and process improvements, and support technology‑enabled legal delivery.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent legal qualification with 3–5 years of relevant experience in a law firm, bank, financial institution or managed legal services environment.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating derivatives, repo or securities‑lending documentation and solid understanding of ISDA documentation and market practice.
• Strong analytical, organisational and negotiation skills with the ability to provide commercially focused advice to legal and non‑legal stakeholders.
