Finance Manager – Costing

About the role

Ready to take ownership of an entire cost function rather than simply reporting on the numbers? This senior, hands‑on position offers a technically strong finance professional the chance to lead costing, payables, controls and business partnering within a well‑established South African organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the South African cost base across multiple cost centres and business units.
• Review the general ledger monthly to ensure cost completeness, accuracy, correct classification and cut‑off.
• Own the full accounts payable function from invoice capture through to payment, enforcing three‑way matching and payment controls.
• Manage creditor and supplier statement reconciliations, resolve discrepancies and oversee month‑end accruals and provisions.
• Monitor spend against budgets, challenge business units on material variances and enforce cost approval and delegation‑of‑authority controls.
• Provide management with clear views of cost performance and support month‑end close and audit activities.
• Lead, manage and develop the accounts payable and creditors team.

Required profile

• CA(SA), CIMA or BCom Honours qualification.
• Extensive experience in costing, management accounting and high‑volume accounts payable.
• Proven track record of owning a cost base, handling accruals, cut‑off and reconciliations.
• Experience managing an AP or creditors team is advantageous.
