English HL Teacher (Intermediate/Intersen Phase)

About the role

The English HL Teacher will deliver higher‑level English instruction to learners in the Intermediate, Intersen or Senior Phase within ADvTECH’s network of schools. The role focuses on building strong foundational knowledge, encouraging abstract thinking and supporting independent work across IEB, Cambridge or IB curricula.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and extend students' basic education foundations in English.
• Guide learners toward developing abstract thought and completing independent work across curricula.
• Deliver future‑focused education that motivates, inspires and challenges students.
• Maintain professional integrity, character and professionalism at all times.
• Develop and sustain constructive partnerships with colleagues, parents, guardians and the community.
• Communicate and collaborate positively with all members of the learning community.
• Accountable for academic delivery, assessment & reporting, student behaviour management, school brand ambassadorship, administration and health & safety.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree (NQF level 6) and PGCE or B.Ed. (Intermediate, Intersen or Senior Phase).
• SACE certification and a valid police clearance.
• 2‑5 years of teaching experience.
• Demonstrated planning, organisation and detail‑orientation.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• High emotional intelligence and professional relationship management.
• Effective time‑management and critical‑thinking abilities.
