Electrician – Automotive Manufacturing

About the role

The company is seeking a qualified electrician to support its automotive manufacturing plant in Gqeberha. The role involves maintaining electrical systems, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring safe and reliable operation of production equipment. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to keep production lines running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fault finding and repairs on plant equipment while adhering to safety parameters.
• Complete scheduled maintenance tasks on time and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work shifts, overtime and be available for year‑end shutdowns as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and supplier documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified electrician with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance environment.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults safely.
• Working knowledge of Siemens S5 / S7 PLC programming and diagnostics.

Required skills

• Relay logic experience and fault‑finding capability.
• Siemens S5 / S7 PLC programming and diagnostics.
• Experience with engine plant equipment such as Block Line machines, CNC lathes, assembly conveyors and lifting equipment.
• Familiarity with tightening systems like Jendamark, Bosch or DGD.
• Computer hardware repair and upgrade knowledge.
