Economics Lecturer (Independent Contractor)

About the role

The role involves delivering Economics modules within the Commerce programmes at the Salt River Campus, Cape Town. You will design and present lectures, lead discussions and practical sessions, and support students in mastering key concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, workshops and tutorials for various Economics subjects.
• Design, update and maintain course content, curricula and instructional materials.
• Employ diverse teaching methods and digital tools to accommodate different learning styles.
• Create, administer and grade assessments such as exams, assignments and presentations.
• Provide constructive feedback and monitor student progress.
• Offer academic advice, hold consultation hours and respond promptly to student inquiries.
• Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring alignment with current developments and accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Economics.
• Prior lecturing experience, both in‑person and online, is advantageous.
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom.
