Drilling & Blasting Manager (Rustenburg)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Drilling & Blasting Manager to lead our drilling and blasting operations in Rustenburg. The role is responsible for meeting production and fragmentation targets while ensuring strict safety and environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee drilling and blasting activities to achieve production and fragmentation targets.
• Design and optimise blast patterns, timing and explosive usage.
• Manage drilling and blasting contractors and ensure contract compliance.
• Monitor blast results, report performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Control the drilling and blasting budget and coordinate with geology, mining and plant teams.
• Ensure proper handling, storage and usage of explosives in line with legal requirements.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Surface Blasting Ticket.
• 8–10 years’ experience in open‑pit mining with a focus on drilling and blasting.
• At least 5 years in a supervisory or management role, including contractor management.
• Experience in hard‑rock environments such as chrome mining is advantageous.
