Documentation and Training Specialist

About the role

The Documentation and Training Specialist supports the National Spherical Torus experiment Upgrade (NSTX‑U) and other PPPL experiments by creating, maintaining, and delivering high‑quality technical procedures and training materials. The role blends technical writing with hands‑on training coordination to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and operators to write, edit, and approve technical procedures and operational documents.
• Manage document version control and repository workflows.
• Mentor authors on writing style and error‑reduction techniques.
• Develop, update, and maintain training and qualification documentation, including training matrices.
• Review operator qualification packages and recommend approvals.
• Schedule classroom sessions, coordinate on‑the‑job training, and monitor training expiration.
• Design and deliver instructor and maintenance training materials.
• Coordinate third‑party technical and operations training.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent certification) preferred; bachelor’s degree acceptable.
• Minimum 12 years of technical experience with an associate’s degree, or 8 years with a bachelor’s degree.
• At least 3 years of experience delivering technical training for equipment or systems.
• Proven ability to work with technical experts and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
