Data Science Developer

About the role

This mid‑level Data Science Developer position focuses on the retail business. You will design, develop, and improve scalable data‑science solutions and analytical products, blending data science, data architecture, data engineering, and ML engineering to deliver tangible business value.

Key responsibilities

• Design and enhance data architectures that support advanced analytics and machine learning solutions.
• Build, optimise, and maintain robust data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and delivering data from multiple sources.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain machine‑learning models and analytical solutions in collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Investigate new data sources, technologies, and approaches to unlock commercial opportunities.
• Prototype and develop innovative data‑driven products and features.
• Translate business problems into technical solutions and deliver high‑impact outcomes.
• Support and improve existing predictive models, analytical products, and decision‑support tools.
• Contribute to best practices in code quality, documentation, solution design, and deployment processes.
• Provide input on technical direction, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement.
• Share knowledge through peer coaching, technical discussions, and presentations.

Required profile

• BSc Honours or MSc in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data science, analytics engineering, or machine‑learning engineering.
• Proven experience designing data solutions, building pipelines, and delivering production‑ready ML or advanced‑analytics projects.
• Experience creating innovative data products, analytical solutions, or commercially valuable proof‑of‑concepts.

Required skills

• High proficiency in SQL.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Expertise with Power BI for data visualisation.
• Solid experience in data architecture and data‑pipeline design.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning model development and deployment.
