Data Engineering Lead

About the role

cloudandthings.io is seeking a Data Engineering Lead to own the technical direction and delivery of modern, cloud‑native data platforms across AWS and Azure. You will drive architecture, lead a team of data engineers, and act as the primary technical liaison on client engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, supporting career development.
• Own client relationships from a technical perspective, scoping work and ensuring delivery excellence.
• Translate business requirements into data platform strategies and measurable outcomes.
• Plan, estimate, and resource multiple concurrent projects.
• Define and enforce engineering standards, code‑review practices, and delivery processes.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to communicate progress, risks, and architectural trade‑offs.
• Contribute to pre‑sales activities such as proposals, solution design, and technical demos.
• Design reference architectures and reusable patterns for multi‑cloud environments.

Required profile

• Strong background in software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing client engagements.
• Proven ability to make architectural trade‑offs across cost, performance, scalability, and governance.
