CSSD Assistant Packer – Sterilisation & Instrument Packing

About the role

The CSSD Assistant Packer will work at Life Carstenhof Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Unit Manager. The role focuses on preparing, packing, sterilising and storing instrument and linen sets for theatres and doctors' rooms in line with infection‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare instrument sets and linen packs according to company standards.
• Apply sterile indicators and operate autoclaves to ensure maximum steam penetration.
• Conduct daily checks on linen levels and maintain adequate stock.
• Perform chemical, biological and mechanical equipment checks as per manufacturer specifications.
• Document test results and maintain heat‑sealing machines and washers.
• Ensure timely repair of equipment malfunctions and maintain gas autoclave functionality.
• Monitor and control non‑recoverable stock items for cost‑effective use.

Required profile

• Previous CSSD experience and training in a private hospital environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work flexible hours.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, instruments and cleaning processes.
• Awareness of safety protocols and adherence to standardised loading/unloading of autoclaves.
