Credit Controller – Debt Management & Collections

About the role

Triton Express, a member of the Plennegy Group, is seeking a Credit Controller for its Durban operations. The role focuses on managing debtor relationships, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining the financial health of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Reduce outstanding debt and keep debtor days within target.
• Achieve monthly collection targets and meet recovery deadlines.
• Review and update debtor age analysis regularly.
• Follow up on accounts overdue 30+ days within agreed timelines.
• Maintain accurate payment allocations, receipts and account reconciliations.
• Process debit/credit notes, POD, invoice and statement requests promptly.
• Handle problem accounts, suspensions, final demands and legal collections.
• Resolve customer queries and disputes within agreed turnaround times.
• Process new account applications, credit assessments and ITC checks.
• Maintain accurate customer profiles, risk categorizations and master data.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Three to four years of debtor experience, with at least three years in credit control.
• General understanding of basic accounting principles, bad‑debt processing and high‑risk client management.
• Experience in age analysis, account reconciliation and analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel.
• Proficiency with MS Word.
• Proficiency with MS Outlook.
