Control Engineer

About the role

The Control Engineer will drive continuous improvement of our manufacturing process, focusing on quality, throughput, availability and safety. You will maintain, troubleshoot and optimise the Cold Mill automation suite, ensuring reliable operation of PLCs, HMIs, drives, instrumentation and process control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise Cold Mill automation hardware and software.
• Lead root‑cause analyses for major breakdowns, quality defects and process interruptions, implementing sustainable corrective actions.
• Implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
• Plan and execute specialised engineering projects, including equipment obsolescence management and lifecycle upgrades.
• Use modern IT tools to analyse, plan and optimise process performance.
• Support shutdown activities and provide technical assistance during critical plant breakdowns.
• Develop and modify PLC logic, control philosophies, interlocks and HMI applications.
• Optimise rolling parameters to improve gauge control, flatness, strip quality and mill throughput.

Required profile

• Experience in industrial automation and control engineering.
• Proven ability to conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Familiarity with predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.
