Construction Manager

About the role

The Construction Manager will lead all on‑site construction activities for a major mining operation in Rustenburg. You will be responsible for delivering infrastructure projects over a 3‑5 year lifecycle, ensuring they meet schedule, budget, safety and environmental standards while also overseeing the mechanical maintenance of the project’s yellow fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily construction site operations and track project milestones.
• Enforce strict compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and environmental protocols.
• Monitor project costs, report budget variances and align resources with financial targets.
• Oversee preventative maintenance, servicing and repair schedules for heavy earth‑moving equipment to maximise fleet availability.
• Supervise and mentor site engineers, contractors and artisans, promoting high performance and safety.
• Coordinate with client, consultants and mine operational management to minimise disruption to active mining.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure construction quality meets technical specifications.
• Manage procurement and allocation of materials, equipment and labour in partnership with supply‑chain.
• Prepare and present weekly and monthly progress reports, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Professional registration (e.g., SACPCMP) is highly advantageous.
• 8‑10 years of construction management experience, with at least 5 years in mining or heavy‑industrial environments.

• Deep understanding of mining infrastructure (shafts, processing plants, tailings facilities).
• Heavy earth‑moving equipment maintenance and fleet management.
• Project cost monitoring and financial reporting.
