Confirmations Clerk

About the role

The Confirmations Clerk supports Mediclinic Bloemfontein by managing authorisations and re‑authorisations for patient cases, helping to minimise financial risk through effective communication with all relevant parties.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain authorisation and re‑authorisation for identified patients to ensure fully paid claims.
• Capture and communicate patient data to all relevant parties.
• Identify and refer risk cases to minimise financial exposure.
• Adhere to Level 2 clinical coding standards.
• Ensure compliance with confirmation procedures, contracts and legal requirements using available systems.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• No prior experience required; experience in a clinical environment is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the AS400 patient administration system.
• Level 2 clinical coding knowledge.
• Use of B2B EMS for authorisation status checks and troubleshooting.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
• Understanding of funder contracts and medical‑aid requirements.
• Familiarity with relevant statutory acts (e.g., Consumer Protection Act).
• Knowledge of patient administration policies and confidentiality procedures.
