Community Liaison Officer – 12 Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Community Liaison Officer on a 12‑month contract to be based near Kathu, Northern Cape. The role will serve as the primary link between Scatec and local communities, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and mitigating project impacts.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain effective relationships between Scatec and local communities.
• Liaise with community stakeholders, represent Scatec at public meetings and forums.
• Support the project manager in interfacing with local government and utilities.
• Assist the E&S team in implementing the Stakeholder Engagement Plan and provide regular project updates.
• Create and maintain a stakeholder database, community profiles and risk feedback.
• Coordinate employment and procurement opportunities for the community.
• Participate in Local Economic Development, Integrated Development Programme, youth and business forums.
• Deliver monthly activity reports and identify partners for community development initiatives.
• Support monitoring and evaluation of socio‑economic and enterprise development projects.
• Develop and distribute communications such as newsletters, reports and updates.
• Prepare and present stakeholder engagement reports to senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community engagement or stakeholder management, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with diverse groups.
• Knowledge of local government processes and community development frameworks.
• Ability to produce clear written reports and presentations.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently on site and travel within the project area.
• Fluency in English; additional local language proficiency is an advantage.
