Chief Financial Officer – Education Sector (Pretoria)

About the role

Our client, a forward‑thinking education group, is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to lead its financial strategy and operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will ensure long‑term financial sustainability while transforming financial systems, processes and operational infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a robust financial strategy aligned with the organisation’s mission and long‑term objectives.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board, providing data‑driven insights to support planning and performance.
• Lead the design, selection and implementation of integrated financial management systems and ERP solutions.
• Drive automation of financial processes to improve efficiency, accuracy and reporting.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and long‑term financial planning.
• Deliver accurate, timely and actionable financial reports.
• Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
• Lead finance’s contribution to the organisation’s broader digital transformation strategy.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification, preferably CA(SA) or equivalent.
• 10+ years senior‑level financial leadership experience in a multi‑brand environment.
• Essential experience in the education sector with knowledge of compliance frameworks and funding mechanisms.
• Proven track record of implementing or upgrading financial systems.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems and financial‑system integration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and risk & compliance functions.
