Buyer (Procurement)

About the role

An established organisation in KwaZulu-Natal is looking for an experienced Buyer to join its Procurement team. You will manage end‑to‑end purchasing activities, source goods and services, and ensure compliance with internal procedures while driving cost savings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide procurement support in line with company policies.
• Manage the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process for assigned categories.
• Source products and services from approved suppliers and assist with supplier evaluation.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions.
• Process purchase orders accurately through the ERP system and ensure proper approvals.
• Communicate orders to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor delivery performance and address delays.
• Maintain supplier relationships and support vendor management initiatives.
• Help achieve departmental savings targets and procurement KPIs.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Required profile

• Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a buying or procurement role.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
• Experience handling RFQs, purchase orders and supplier negotiations.
• High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
• Word / Google Docs.
• ERP system proficiency (e.g., Oracle, Sage or similar).
