Business Development Officer - Mining Division

About the role

The Business Development Officer – Mining Division will drive new‑business acquisition and revenue growth for Stallion Security within South Africa’s mining sector. Based in Johannesburg, the role involves market research, prospecting, tender coordination and client relationship management to secure security contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain a qualified mining‑sector target‑account list and sales pipeline, completing a minimum of 20 outbound calls per week.
• Identify, qualify and pursue tender opportunities, preparing bespoke proposals, presentations and tender submissions.
• Negotiate contracts within approved parameters and ensure accurate handover of awarded contracts to Operations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date CRM records, activity notes, probability, value and expected close dates.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of business development or consultative sales experience in mining, security or related B2B environments.
• Proven ability to manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract closure.
• Grade 12 qualification; tertiary education in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively across South Africa.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CRM systems for activity tracking and forecasting.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with sales analytics to monitor pipeline performance.
