About the role
Takealot Fulfilment Solutions is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth of its logistics and fulfilment services in South Africa. Based in Cape Town, the role focuses on acquiring new strategic clients and expanding existing partnerships.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver on sales targets focused on acquiring quality clients.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline targeting strategic accounts.
- Design and execute new client acquisition strategies.
- Conduct needs analysis for prospective clients and provide feedback to senior management.
- Analyse data to create actionable insights and report findings.
- Collaborate with operational teams to translate client needs into operational actions.
- Work cross‑functionally to optimise client partnerships.
- Present to senior managers and clients, building strong relationships.
- Provide national partners with weekly and monthly performance reports against SLA.
- Monitor client‑specific KPIs, prepare and present performance review meetings.
- Ensure partners meet agreed service delivery SLA for continuous performance.
- Travel across South African provinces as required.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma.
- 3‑5 years of logistics sales experience.
- Proven track record in lead generation (physical and digital) and client acquisition.
- Commercially minded with strong negotiation skills.
- Solutions‑oriented, self‑motivated with a can‑do attitude.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to develop senior‑level relationships quickly.
- Strong prioritisation, time‑management and ability to handle multiple opportunities.
- Comfortable with change and a collaborative team player.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Excel (or Google Sheets).
- Ability to create presentations using PowerPoint (or Google Slides).
- Competence in data analysis and reporting.
