Building Maintenance Technician

About the role

A real estate company specialising in property management, investment and development in residential and commercial property is hiring a Building Maintenance Technician in Cape Town (Gardens). The position is permanent, on-site and office based, and involves general building maintenance and hands-on handyman work.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance, including minor repairs, geyser thermostat replacements and light fixture installations.
• Handle a wide range of handyman tasks with precision and efficiency.
• Safely work at heights when required.
• Install signage, disclaimers and window coverings as directed.
• Identify, report and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
• Execute instructions from Directors and departmental managers.
• Oversee on-site security and cleaning teams, ensuring adherence to professional standards.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment in all managed properties.
• Communicate with tenants and address their maintenance concerns.
• Stay calm and solution-oriented in high-pressure or urgent situations.

Required profile

• Valid driver's licence.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-focused approach with excellent service ethics.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
