Bookkeeper – Temporary Contract (Cape Town)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join a busy finance environment on a short‑term contract. The role is hands‑on, focused on accurate record‑keeping, transaction processing and reconciliation in a fast‑paced, transaction‑heavy setting.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily financial transactions, capture journals and standard accounting entries.
• Allocate transactions to the correct general ledger accounts and cost centres.
• Maintain accurate financial records, supporting documentation and organised filing systems.
• Complete reconciliations for petty cash, fuel, own‑use and office accounts, investigating any discrepancies.
• Assist with month‑end preparation, provide schedules and reports for accountants and finance management.
• Support audit requests and liaise with stores, suppliers and internal departments to resolve finance queries.

Required profile

• Certificate, Diploma or relevant qualification in Bookkeeping, Accounting or Finance.
• 2–4 years of bookkeeping or finance administration experience, preferably in a high‑volume retail or FMCG environment.
• Clear criminal and credit checks are essential.
• Strong numerical ability, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
