Blending Manager

About the role

The Blending Manager will lead the blending department within Diageo's supply chain and manufacturing network, ensuring the production of high‑quality spirits and related liquids. This role combines operational oversight, quality compliance, and continuous improvement to meet the company's QCDSM targets.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily blending operations, ensuring adherence to formulas, production schedules, and codex compliance.
• Manage ingredient inventory, optimise material usage and control costs, including excise duty management.
• Ensure all blended liquids meet quality standards, perform root‑cause analysis for non‑conformances, and maintain hygiene and safety standards.
• Lead, develop and coach the blending team, coordinate training, attendance and performance reviews.
• Drive process improvement using data analytics tools such as Excel and Power BI to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
• Coordinate with asset‑care teams to maintain equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
• Champion Diageo’s sustainability programme through water and energy usage management and waste reduction.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing blending or liquid production operations in the beverage or spirits industry.
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on team motivation, utilisation and development.
• Solid understanding of quality management systems (FSSC 22000) and HACCP principles.
• Experience with excise regulations and water treatment plant operations.

Required skills

• Excel and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of FSSC 22000 and HACCP compliance.
• Expertise in alcohol blending, proofing, filtration (activated charcoal, sand) and liquid maturation.
• Sensory evaluation abilities (taste and smell) for quality assurance.
• Familiarity with water treatment plants and water balance management.
