Blasting Assistant – Mining South Shaft

About the role

Seize the opportunity to join Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, a values‑driven subsidiary of Assore Limited, located near Burgersfort in Limpopo Province. The Blasting Assistant (A3) will support underground mining operations in the South Shaft, ensuring safe and efficient use of explosives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with face preparation and drilling before blasting.
• Prepare, transport, and charge explosives, including round charging and blast timing.
• Create and maintain a safe work area, perform housekeeping, and conduct early examinations.
• Water down, examine, and clean the face after blasting, including washing sockets and demarcating geological features.
• Assist with measurements, direction lines, and handling misfires under supervision.
• Receive, verify, and transport explosives from the magazine to the work section.
• Dislodge drill holes and load explosives.
• Assist with timing devices and connect blast circuits.
• Follow all operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Demarcate geological features and support measurement activities.

Required profile

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
• Blasting Assistant Certificate.
• At least one year of practical underground mining experience (e.g., pump attendant, PTW, belt attendant, rock breaker).
• Preferably six months of experience specifically as a Blasting Assistant.
