Bagging Plant Operator

About the role

The Bagging Plant Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently running the auto‑bagging facilities within the Emulsions and Tank Farm plants. This role ensures continuous, high‑quality bagging and packaging of chemical products while providing frontline supervision to operators and supporting the Shift Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve shift production targets for bagged emulsion product and minimise downtime.
• Maintain consistent product flow from CBEP to the auto‑bagging plant and optimise line speed.
• Set up, calibrate and operate auto‑bagging machinery, including weighers, sealers, conveyors and palletisers.
• Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, adjustments and minor repairs; report faults and coordinate with maintenance.
• Complete production logs, shift reports and downtime records in full compliance with SOPs and housekeeping standards.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with N3–N6 qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a chemical or high‑risk manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating automated bagging or packaging systems; exposure to emulsions, tank farms or explosives manufacturing is advantageous.
• Shift‑work experience, strong safety orientation and ability to work under pressure.
