Associate Data Specialist

About the role

The Associate Data Specialist will support the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Pretoria by collaborating with internal UN units, national institutions and development partners to design, implement and maintain data collection systems and analytics that drive the Sustainable Development Goals agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with data engineers, data scientists and subject‑matter experts to develop databases and data collection tools.
• Coordinate with UN entities, government agencies, civil society and private sector partners to exchange data and best practices.
• Consolidate and quality‑assure agency inputs for UN Country Team Results Groups and Theme Groups.
• Track Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework indicators, milestones and reporting commitments.
• Prepare evidence and analytical inputs for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) reviews and Programme Management meetings.

Required profile

• Experience working in multilateral or development environments, preferably within UN systems.
• Strong understanding of data governance, statistical efficiency and quality assurance.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across UN agencies, governments and NGOs.
