Artisan Assistant – Maintenance Support

About the role

Mr Price Logistics is seeking an Artisan Assistant to support the maintenance of operational equipment at its distribution centre in Hammersdale. The role focuses on planned preventative maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical installations and repairs to improve operational efficiency.
• Assist artisans in fault finding and breakdown resolution.
• Inspect the building and site regularly for issues such as water leaks, fence damage, and required welding.
• Replace worn or damaged motor parts and components.
• Check oil levels, electronic components and braking devices, and replace defective parts.
• Inspect and maintain safety and warning devices.
• Track and monitor all conveyors within the distribution centre to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / NQF4 or equivalent qualification.
• N3 or N4 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3‑5 years’ experience in a production or maintenance environment.
• Basic trade knowledge of electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Understanding of distribution centre operations and retail.
