Architect – Johannesburg, South Africa

About the role

Woolpert Africa is looking for an Architect to join its Buildings Team in Johannesburg. You will lead the development and delivery of project deliverables from concept through construction and close‑out, collaborating with global staff and interdisciplinary partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage architectural designs for medium to large‑scale retail, residential, and commercial projects.
• Coordinate with Project Leads in the UK and US and support the Regional Team Leader.
• Lead a local team to ensure timely delivery of all project documentation.
• Maintain design quality, sustainability standards, and adherence to client requirements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Architecture or Bachelor’s/Diploma in Architectural Technology.
• 4–6 years of architectural experience across design and construction phases.
• Experience on medium to large projects such as retail, multi‑family residential, or commercial developments.
• Strong design, coordination, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Registered with SACAP (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
• Competence with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
• Experience using Bluebeam for document review and markup.
