Accountant – South Africa (IFRS & Tax)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage our South African financial operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations and IFRS. The role involves preparing financial statements, handling tax filings, and supporting budgeting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts in accordance with South African law and IFRS.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and petty cash.
• Coordinate with external auditors for statutory audits and internal control reviews.
• File all required tax returns (VAT, corporate income tax, WHT, social tax, land/property tax) and manage VAT refund processes.
• Liaise with tax authorities during inspections and respond to queries.
• Monitor changes in local accounting and tax legislation and implement updates.
• Support budgeting and financial planning aligned with headquarters requirements.
• Implement and strengthen internal financial controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience in South Africa.
• In‑depth knowledge of South African tax and accounting laws.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Fluent English for reporting to headquarters.
