Accountant – Financial Services

About the role

Our client, a well‑established financial services group, is looking for a highly skilled Accountant to join their finance team. The role offers the chance to work across procurement, general ledger, management reporting and sales accounting, supporting the organisation’s growth and compliance objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Review primary source documents and ensure compliance with group policies, budget limits and authority levels for procurement.
• Maintain and reconcile cash books, bank statements, supplier accounts and fixed‑asset registers.
• Process complex journal entries, validate intercompany and related‑party transactions, and oversee balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate management accounts, cash‑flow forecasts, budgets and related reporting schedules.
• Support payroll processing and verify supporting documentation.
• Analyse customer and supplier ageing, follow up variances, and ensure timely resolution.
• Calculate and validate revenue figures, performing checks against agreements and system inputs.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting (BCom, BCompt or equivalent).
• Accountant I: Completed articles and 5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, or Accountant II: Completed articles plus 3 years of experience, or 8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, internal controls and group reporting requirements.
