Accountant: Annual Financial Statements

About the role

The role involves preparing accurate and compliant annual financial statements for a portfolio of clients in Durban North. You will work closely with monthly accounting teams, tax departments and supervisors to ensure all disclosures, tax computations and trial balances meet the required standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual financial statements, applying the correct accounting standards and disclosures for various entity types.
• Compute income tax, deferred tax and perform tax‑to‑financials reconciliations.
• Build, reconcile and review trial balances for each client.
• Support independent review engagements and maintain complete supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with monthly accounting teams, tax departments and supervisors to resolve issues efficiently.
• Communicate financial matters to clients in clear, simple terms.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
• Progressing through or completed SAICA, SAIPA or equivalent articles programme.
• Knowledge of income tax computations, deferred tax and tax‑to‑financials reconciliation.
• Audit experience is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, time‑management and integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero, Pastel or Eureka accounting systems.
• Experience using CaseWare or equivalent financial statement compilation software.
• Ability to apply accounting standards and prepare tax computations.
