WordPress Gutenberg Developer (Remote, Ongoing)

About the role

Secure Line Marketing is seeking a remote WordPress Gutenberg Developer to build fast, conversion‑focused websites for fence and deck contractors across the US and Canada. You will work with our design and SEO teams to turn wireframes and brand guidelines into performance‑optimized sites using the Gutenberg block editor and Full Site Editing.

Key responsibilities

• Build complete WordPress sites with Gutenberg and Full Site Editing (no Elementor/Divi).
• Implement page layouts from briefs, wireframes, or reference sites.
• Create reusable block patterns, templates, and global styles for rapid deployment.
• Develop or configure custom Gutenberg blocks (native, ACF Blocks, or approved plugins).
• Collaborate with the SEO team to ensure speed, mobile‑friendliness, and local‑SEO readiness.
• Integrate contact forms, tracking, and basic automations (form → CRM/email).
• Maintain and update existing client sites, including layout tweaks and new landing pages.
• Follow internal standards for performance, accessibility, and clean code.
• Communicate proactively about timelines, roadblocks, and technical recommendations.

Required profile

• Strong experience building production WordPress sites with Gutenberg as the primary builder.
• Familiarity with Full Site Editing (block themes, template parts, global styles).
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic PHP within WordPress.
• Experience with at least one modern Gutenberg‑friendly theme or stack (e.g., Kadence, GeneratePress/GenerateBlocks, Blocksy).
• Ability to create reusable patterns that are easy for non‑technical clients to edit.
• Strong grasp of responsive design and cross‑browser compatibility.
• Basic knowledge of on‑page SEO best practices and performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, image optimization, caching).
• Comfortable working from briefs in tools like Google Docs or Figma.
• Clear written communication and reliable availability.
