Veterinarian – Regional Flock Health Management (KZN)

About the role

Design, manage and control regional flock health and diagnostic capability for Rainbow Chicken in Hammarsdale, KZN, ensuring healthy breeders, chicks and broilers while complying with disease control and animal welfare standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement flock health control plans, vaccination strategies, medication application and diagnostic testing regimes.
• Lead regional veterinary team, manage direct reports and coordinate with agriculture, laboratory, nutrition and plant teams.
• Ensure compliance with notifiable and zoonotic disease surveillance, export requirements and animal welfare policies.
• Maintain laboratory accreditation (SANAS) and AI‑free compartment status.
• Oversee pest control programs, bio‑security standards and SHEQ compliance.

Required profile

• Veterinary degree (7 years) with a postgraduate qualification in poultry diseases and production.
• 3‑5 years experience in commercial poultry production.
• Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) and maintain CPD accreditation.
