Specialty Registrar (ST4) in Anaesthetics – 12‑month LAT post

About the role

This is a 12‑month Local Anaesthetic Training (LAT) post for a Specialty Registrar (ST4) in Anaesthetics, delivered through Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Raigmore Hospital. The role provides comprehensive clinical experience across major surgical specialties and opportunities to engage in medical education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver anaesthetic care for a wide range of surgical specialties, including cardiothoracic, neurosurgery and obstetrics.
• Participate in maternity and paediatric anaesthetic services at both hospital sites.
• Contribute to the teaching of medical students rotating through anaesthesia.

Required profile

• Minimum 24 months of UK anaesthesia experience, including completion of the Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC) and IAC in Obstetric Anaesthesia.
• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC prior to start.
• Eligibility under the National Person Specification for Anaesthesia ST4 2026.
