Solar PV Design Engineer – Renewable Energy

About the role

We are seeking a Solar PV Design Engineer to join the Business Development team of a fast‑growing renewable energy company. The role involves creating preliminary and detailed designs for commercial and utility‑scale solar projects while supporting proposals and feasibility studies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop preliminary and detailed solar PV system designs for commercial and utility‑scale projects.
• Perform energy yield assessments, electrical calculations and system optimisation studies.
• Prepare system layouts, single‑line diagrams (SLDs) and technical documentation.
• Support the Business Development team with technical input for proposals, tenders and feasibility studies.
• Review site information, drawings and specifications to determine optimal solutions.
• Assist with battery energy storage system (BESS) integration and grid connection considerations.
• Liaise with internal teams, clients, consultants, suppliers and external stakeholders during project development.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations and best practices.
• Contribute to value‑engineering initiatives to improve project efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in the solar PV or EPC industry.
• Proven experience designing commercial or utility‑scale solar PV systems.
• Strong understanding of solar technologies, BESS and grid integration principles.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to site locations.
