Senior Professional Nurse – Medical

About the role

The Senior Professional Nurse will support the Unit Manager in delivering safe, high‑quality patient care and a positive client experience. The role combines direct clinical duties with mentorship of new and student nurses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive and safe patient care while mitigating clinical risks and meeting quality standards.
• Manage the overall client experience within the unit.
• Ensure optimal staffing levels, retention and effective utilisation of resources.
• Develop staff competence through continuous assessment, training and mentorship.
• Assist in managing operational expenses, including stock and capital equipment.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification; postgraduate diploma in nursing for specialist units (e.g., peri‑operative).
• Minimum 3 years of professional nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• At least 1 year of mentorship experience.
