Senior Buyer

About the role

The client is a nationally recognised South African property development group seeking a Senior Buyer to support its expanding operations in the Western Cape. The role focuses on securing reliable supply sources, managing procurement activities and ensuring cost‑effective purchasing while maintaining quality and delivery schedules for construction and residential development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reliable supplier relationships to guarantee continuity of supply.
• Issue enquiries, evaluate quotations and negotiate pricing, quality and performance.
• Place orders with approved suppliers, ensuring alignment with project programmes and budgets.
• Monitor material requirements, prepare monthly forecasts and report any delays or shortages.
• Verify that purchased materials meet quality and performance standards and comply with company policies.
• Review monthly invoices, investigate anomalies and coordinate with suppliers, quantity surveyors and site teams on discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and records.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or Business Management.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Buyer, preferably in the construction or residential development sector.
• Strong supplier negotiation and procurement expertise.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational abilities and excellent communication skills.
