Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor will lead all aspects of quantity surveying and estimating for Transnet Port Terminals and other operating divisions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare feasibility studies in line with the Project Lifecycle Process.
• Develop bills of quantities using SANS 1200 and other measurement systems.
• Utilise Transnet‑approved software for compiling estimates and bills of quantities.
• Conduct commercial evaluation of tenders and contracts as required.
• Attend site and project meetings, and perform monthly site visits for valuation.
• Prepare payment certificates, monthly cost/financial status reports, and final accounts.
• Capture and update payment data in SAP and Primavera.
• Assess compensation events, finalize costs, and ensure compliance with Project Execution Plans and procurement policies.

Required profile

• National Diploma (M+3) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of experience in multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Project management experience aligned with PMBOK standards.
• Professional registration is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP for financial data management.
• Experience using Primavera for scheduling and cost control.
• Knowledge of SANS 1200 Standard System of Measurement.
• Familiarity with Transnet‑approved quantity surveying software.
