Project Engineer I – Mining Solutions

About the role

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a Project Engineer I to lead the planning, coordination and execution of technical mining projects across South Africa. The role blends engineering expertise with project management to deliver solutions on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, manage resources and monitor progress.
• Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues and work with Project Managers to ensure efficient deployment of mining systems.
• Support and maintain software, deliver bespoke customisations and troubleshoot system issues.
• Configure customer systems, implement customisations using scripting tools and participate in onsite installations.
• Identify and communicate risks, produce regular status reports and collaborate with sales in pre‑sales technical presentations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of current and upcoming product offerings and adhere to health and safety policies.

Required profile

• Strong high‑level knowledge of mining systems deployed by Hexagon.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and organisational abilities.
• Hands‑on attitude with the capacity to work on complex, integrated solutions.
• Residency within South Africa is mandatory.
