Process Controller – Water Treatment (Permanent)

About the role

The Process Controller will ensure safe and efficient operation of the water‑treatment plants in Hopetown and Strydenburg, monitoring water quality, managing plant equipment and supporting corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse water samples for chemical and bacteriological parameters, ensuring compliance with SANS 241.
• Operate plant valves and pumps to control flow and chemical dosing, and perform first‑line maintenance on equipment.
• Conduct laboratory tests, record results, and implement corrective actions for any deviations.
• Maintain logs of plant operations, meter readings, chemical consumption and prepare daily/weekly reports for the supervisor.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent, preferably NTC 3 in Water or Waste‑water Treatment.
• Operator’s certificate or Waste‑water Treatment practice (N3) and a Code EB driver’s licence.
• 1–2 years experience operating a water‑treatment plant.

Required skills

• Water sampling and chemical/bacteriological analysis.
• Valve and pump operation and basic mechanical maintenance.
• Laboratory testing procedures and data recording.
• Monitoring of chemical levels and adjustment of dosing systems.
